Te Toi Roa 2008 Symposium
Celebrating Indigenous Excellence

Te Wananga O Aotearoa in conjunction with other leading institutions; Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi, Te Wananga o Raukawa, University of Waikato, Wintec and Te Panekeritanga (Insititute of Excellence in Māori Language) is holding the Te Toi Roa Symposium - Celebrating Indigenous Excellence.

Te Toi Roa Symposium will be a boutique symposium bringing together people to address two central themes that have an impact on indigenous peoples across the globe – language and water.

Te Toi Roa Symposium is a continuation of the successful World Indigenous Peoples Conference (WiPCE) of 2005 and the Indigenous Language Symposium 2007, also hosted by Te Wananga O Aotearoa.

The themes of the Te Toi Roa Symposium are:

3rd International Meeting on Indigenous Child Health: "Many Voices Into One Song"

The purpose of this international, collaborative conference will be to focus on innovative clinical care models and community-based public health approaches for children and youth in First Nations, Inuit, Métis, American Indian, and Alaska Native communities. The 2009 meeting will include a joint programming day (March 6) with the IHS Native Women's Health and MCH Conference, which will provide the added opportunity for conference delegates to dialogue with women's health colleagues on topics of mutual interest.
