Raymond Shingoose Leadership Award

We are pleased to announce the introduction of a $2,000 award established in honour of Raymond Shingoose. 

The Raymond Shingoose Leadership Award recognizes a technical expert and leader whose work reflects the honour, wisdom, and long-standing commitment demonstrated by Mr. Shingoose through more than 40 years of leadership in First Nations Child and Family Services. The award supports excellence, innovation, and advocacy benefiting First Nations children, youth, and families across Canada.

• Employed by a First Nation, First Nation Child and Family Services Agency or First National regional/national child and family organization
• Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience supporting First Nation children and families in First Nations Child and Family Services
• Distinguished, positive role model at the organization, regional and national levels

• Demonstrated leadership outcomes for First Nations children, youth and families

   

Caring Society Board Members and Employees are not eligible.

A First Nation, First Nation Child and Family Service Agency, or regional organization can nominate an exemplar role model and leader working to support First Nations children and families.

• Complete the nomination form and include a letter of nomination, explaining why the nominee deserve the award and how they meet the criteria
• Biography of the nominee, including examples or stories of their exemplar leadership
• 2 letters or videos supporting the nomination, explaining why the nominee deserves the award and how they meet the criteria
  • Videos must be no longer than 15 minutes each

The complete nomination package (nomination form, including the nomination letter, biography and letters of support as well as all supporting materials relevant to the nomination) must be received by 11:45 pm EST on June 1, 2026.

Nominators can submit the nomination package digitally through the link on our webpage, by mail, by using the online “Contact Us” webform, or by emailing the package to info@fncaringsociety.com. We encourage applicants to submit their applications electronically rather than by mail, although we still accept applications sent by mail.
